Free Halloween and horror fonts

Halloween design has its own alphabet: dripping horror letters for party flyers, carved and cracked display faces for signage, and gothic blackletter for anything that wants to look old and cursed. The fonts below cover all three, picked for shapes that stay readable once you add shadows, textures and a lot of orange.

Use them for party invitations, shop windows, trick-or-treat signs, social posts and costume contest posters. Every font is free to download; the license file in the ZIP tells you whether a shop promotion is covered.

Making Halloween type look good, not messy

Pick one horror face for the headline and set everything else in a plain sans; decorative letters stacked on decorative letters turn into noise. Give dripping and spiky fonts extra line spacing so the shapes do not collide, keep text on flat areas of the artwork, and test the design in black and white first. If the headline survives without colour, it will survive with it.

Questions about halloween fonts

What font is used on classic horror posters?
Heavy slab and condensed display faces for the title, often with hand-cut or dripping edges. Blackletter shows up for occult and vampire themes.
Can I use these on Halloween party flyers I sell?
Personal parties are covered by any license here. If you sell tickets or print the flyer for a venue, that is commercial use and the ZIP license decides.
Which Halloween fonts stay readable at small sizes?
Choose faces with intact counters and avoid heavy texture below 18 pt. Save the most decorated font for the headline and set the details in a clean sans.
